Office Spaces Meets Functionality

Building upon its extensive experience of constructing complex office headquarters, Opus Design Build, L.L.C. served as general contractor on the new Theatre Support Center for American Multi-Cinema, Inc. (AMC) in Leawood, Kan.

For this third-party construction project, Opus worked in partnership with VanTrust Real Estate LLC and 360 Architecture, Inc. to build the four-story, 132,000-square-foot facility located within the Park Place mixed-use development. Applying the design-build approach, the Opus team worked closely with AMC to construct a building that met the client’s business needs.

Constructing Unique Spaces

The facility houses AMC’s office support staff and features a contemporary design intended to contrast with the established architectural design of the Park Place development. The exterior is primarily composed of floor to ceiling clear glass with minimalist detailing.

The facility features a central test seating area that matches the stadium seating used in many AMC theaters. Complete with large flat screen TVs and video broadcast technologies, this area is used to test seating options while also doubling as a common area for informal meetings. Employees may also sample theater popcorn and other menu options created in the AMC test kitchen adjacent to the outdoor patio.

Additionally, the building features three large exterior balconies, with two-story high canopies lined with Brazilian hardwood and many dramatic cantilevered portions.
