BUILD-TO-SUIT HEADQUARTERS TO BE THE PERFECT FIT FOR XCEL ENERGY

Moving a corporate headquarters is a huge undertaking. From the importance of selecting a site, to creating a space that will better serve employees as working styles and business needs continue to evolve, it can be a long and complicated process. Using its expertise in office development, design and construction, Opus can help simplify that complex process for diverse clients.

Collaborative Space Created by Design Build

Using Opus’ collaborative design-build process, Xcel Energy’s headquarters in downtown Amarillo, Texas, has a flexible office space design, customized for up to 525 employees. The 119,000-square-foot build-to-suit office development also includes space to accommodate future growth, ensuring the building will continue to be a good fit for Xcel Energy in the coming years. The new building will also aid in the company’s recruitment as a growing number of its employees move toward retirement.

Xcel entrusted Opus with this challenge because of an early commitment to price and certainty of outcome based on a previous partnership.

Located one block west of Amarillo City Hall on South Buchanan Street, the seven-story building features 5,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. With a LEED Silver Certification, the building contains an architectural precast and glass exterior with interior LED lighting, energy efficient HVAC systems and structured parking.
