“Opus worked with us and worked with the city at the planning commission meetings, the common council meetings, throughout the project with the inspection department and ultimately, we had a very successful project. I know Franklin was very impressed with the project, not just the finished product, but the construction process as well.”
Mike Skorstad Assistant Director of Facilities
The new campus, which opened in April 2004, is located on an 84-acre site at the northwest corner of West Drexel Avenue and South 27th Street. Preliminary development plans include a total of four phases and between 1.9 and 2.0 million square feet of office space.
Phase I is a five-story, 550,000-square-foot L-shaped office building with a two-level, 40,000-square-foot computer data center connected to the main office building. The parking structure accommodates 900+ automobiles.
The interior includes a cafeteria that opens onto an outdoor patio. The cafeteria also serves as a multi-purpose area for large meetings.
With more than 2.9 million policyowners, more than $700 billion life insurance in force and $16 billion in annual revenues, Northwestern Mutual is the nations leading individual life insurance company and No. 124 on the Fortune 500 list. |
