Opus West is known for providing a caring hand in the community with organizations helping people in need. This unflinching commitment also has extended to assisting our four-legged friends who have been abused or near death.
The Phoenix office has partnered with HALO Animal Rescue to provide funds and resources to help shelter, feed and care for hundreds of animals. Last December, Opus West donated a 1997 Ford 150 XLT Pick Up Truck. The truck is being used for transporting animals and bringing items to the HALO Thrift Store.
“It is fantastic we have been able to support animals and give them a second chance at life,” said Opus West’s Laura Haasch, senior administrative assistant in the Phoenix construction department. “I personally value that Opus assists smaller organizations like HALO and cares about a variety of causes.”
HALO Animal Rescue is a no-kill, non profit temporary animal shelter in Phoenix that takes in animals for adoption. Founded in 1994, HALO has placed more than 2,000 abandoned dogs and cats in loving, forever homes.”
In addition to Laura, Opus West colleagues involved in the most recent HALO partnership were: Jim Fritcher, senior vice president of construction; Chuck Vogel, senior vice president of real estate, and wife Hilary Fox; Opus Architects & Engineers’ Bob Carli, vice president; Skip Martinkovic, safety director, Marc Altieri, director, real estate finance and sales; and Tonia Raeth, human resources assistant.
“HALO is truly making a difference in the community, and I am in awe of how Opus is so compassionate,” said Opus West’s Tonia Raeth, human resources assistant in Phoenix. “Opus West’s ongoing HALO effort shows the strength of our community commitment and the desire to help give animals an opportunity to have healthy relationships with great families.”
Heather Allen, HALO’s president and CEO, said, “We are extremely grateful for Opus West’s generosity and the most-recent gift is being used to continue our mission of ‘Helping Animals Live On’.” HALO, she said, truly values Opus West’s collaboration to help save so many animals.
“We see our involvement as helping neglected animals and also the families looking to adopt these special dogs and cats,” said Opus West’s Chuck Vogel. “It is a ‘win-win’ for all of us.”
