Working out of our St. Louis office, the Real Estate Development Intern will be responsible for supporting commercial real estate development efforts.  Specific duties include providing assistance with a variety of departmental activities, including market research and analysis, site selection review, design review, event coordination and development management. 


  • Gather, organize, analyze, and maintain market and industry data as directed.
  • Recognize the competition, and identify their developments and associated market prices, amenity packages and building specifications.
    • Tour appropriate competitive properties, as directed.
    • Gather and organize brochures, floor plans, pricing data, etc. for competitive projects.
    • Research competing new construction developments.
  • Assist with site selection process, utilizing various analytical demographic and market tools to evaluate sites and sub-markets.
  • Assist with the coordination and creation of commercial real estate products.
    • Assist with gathering necessary background data/information on potential development opportunities, including:
      • County plat maps
      • Surveys
      • City guide plans and zoning maps
      • Property Identification Numbers
      • Assessed valuations
      • Aerial photographs
      • Area demographics
    • Assist with developing/coordinating necessary collateral material for development projects.
    • Assist with coordinating and implementing grand opening events for development projects.
  • Establish contact and regularly communicate with key real estate development employees and outside contacts.
    • Attend appropriate internal meetings with real estate, design, construction, and administrative staff.
    • Attend appropriate external meetings with brokers, developers, city personnel, etc.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.


  • Student pursuing bachelor’s degree in real estate, business, finance, or a related field, with completion of at least two years of post-secondary education
  • Exposure to lending processes and institutions, the construction industry, and/or the brokerage community and how these groups relate to one another is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with statistics with an ability to use them to choose between alternatives
  • Ability to prioritize and organize time and responsibilities in order to fulfill primary goals and coordinate numerous details that accompany each project
  • Personal qualities of persistence, diplomacy, and initiative
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid computer skills
