After breaking ground in January 2013, the concrete structures at 51 Main topped out!
When completed, 51 Main will be a 6-story, 176-unit luxury apartment building in the South Plaza area of Kansas City, Mo. It will include an eight-level, 345-stall parking garage and 8,500 square feet of retail space.
VanTrust Real Estate, LLC, the owner and developer of the project, celebrated this milestone by sponsoring a topping out event. Attendees were treated to a lunch from Andre’s Confiserie Suisse, and everyone received a topping out t-shirt. Construction workers’ names were drawn to award the many door prizes provided by VanTrust and various vendors.
At this point, the team has placed 13,380 cubic yards of concrete, 1010 tons of rebar and 142,400 pounds of post-tensioning cable. When complete, the apartments will have three to five levels of wood-framed structure on top of the cast-in-place concrete podium, which wraps around the concrete garage structure. Topping out of the wood structures will occur in March of 2014.
51 Main is slated for completion in October 2014.
