A Year in Review: Our Community Efforts

1/6/2014

Along with the Opus Foundation®, we’ve been very active Building Community in 2013. Here are just a few highlights from this year.

In April, more than 200 employees gathered at sites in six communities to volunteer their time and talents for a day in celebration of our second annual Founder’s Day, marking the founding of our company. Employees worked hard with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together across the country.

The first of two Impact Fund grant cycles wrapped up in June with $676,845 awarded to 20 nonprofit organizations located in Opus communities.

During our annual United Way campaign in October, employees raised and committed $81,052 for their local United Way chapter. Volunteer events and fundraising activities in all offices helped bring everyone together to Live United. The Opus Foundation gave a dollar-for-dollar match, raising our total donated to over $162,000! (Read about our goals and experiences.)

In November, $592,899 was awarded in Impact Fund grants to 14 nonprofit organizations across the country. Additionally, $294,969 was awarded in Opportunity Fund grants throughout the year to 67 nonprofits.

We’re excitedly looking forward to what 2014 allows us to do in the communities in which we live and work!

The Opus Foundation is building community for a better tomorrow by supporting projects and programs that make our communities better places to live, work and raise families through grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of early childhood education, youth development, workforce development, community revitalization and pressing/emerging needs.
