Burr Ridge Village Center Holiday Stroll Set for December 11

BURR RIDGE, Ill. - This year, Santa and Jingles the Elf will be joined by Clifford the Big Red Dog and the Cat in the Hat as they savor the magic of the holidays at Burr Ridge Village Center’s fourth-annual Holiday Stroll on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 4 to 9 p.m. Guests can enjoy complimentary horse-drawn sleigh rides, extended shopping hours, specials savings, and even a chance to whisper your holiday wishes to Santa himself. Burr Ridge Village Center is a 20-acre lifestyle center in southwest-suburban Burr Ridge developed by Rosemont-based Opus Development Corporation.

“Before Santa and Jingles the Elf stroll through the center to meet shoppers, they plan to visit the Kohler Waters Spa for some pre-holiday pampering and relaxation,” said Kimberly Mans, property manager for Burr Ridge Village Center. “Santa will also visit our Aveda Salon Efthimia for a complimentary beard trim and cup of calming tea. He definitely knows the right place for some pampering, shopping and dining all in one stop.”

During the Holiday Stroll, each store at Burr Ridge Village Center will offer something special, from tasty holiday treats to exclusive discounts. In addition, guests can enter to win a $500 Village Center shopping spree when they complete a Holiday Passport, which guides them through the special activities of the event. Winners need not be present to win.

A few new retailers joining in the holiday festivities this year are Verizon Wireless, Brookstone, Red 21 Boys and Barbara’s Bookstore, where kids can meet the Cat in the Hat and Clifford the Big Red Dog while browsing a great selection of holiday books. The bookstore will also host the Jerling Junior High School Orchestra for a festive holiday performance at 5:30 p.m, and visits with Santa from 5-7 p.m.

In addition, there will be toasty mulled holiday wine from Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, complimentary holiday ornament painting at Color Me Mine and even a champagne fountain hosted by Fine Skin Dermatology, said Mans. Stores will also make shopping even easier by displaying “My Favorite Things” gift ideas on their front doors.

The center will also offer free gift wrapping during the event for purchases totaling $50 or more.  The complimentary gift wrapping will be located in the lobby next to Starbucks and is sponsored by Boys Scouts Troop 56 of Burr Ridge, who will be accepting donations in kind for their elf-like service.

Those attending Holiday Stroll will also be able to enjoy homemade popcorn, courtesy of Total Life Chiropractic of Willow Springs, while listening to live holiday music provided by the Canticum Novum Choir from 5 to 7 p.m.

“It’s so special to gather as a community to share in the holiday spirit, and the center offers such a perfect setting for these festivities,” Mans said. “We have something for everyone, whether it’s a family looking to take in the charm of the season with Santa and sleigh rides, or shoppers searching for the perfect gift.”
