David Everson Assumes Leadership of Opus Chicago Office

CHICAGO, Ill. - David Everson has been named general manager of the Chicago office of Opus Development Corporation, where he will be responsible for pursuing commercial real estate development and investment opportunities, and for leading development operations.

In addition, Everson will continue in his role as vice president of sales and finance for Opus, where he is responsible for securing the construction financing and eventual sale of various build-to-suit and speculative development projects throughout Chicago, Milwaukee, Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio.

“We are delighted to announce Dave’s promotion to general manager of our Chicago office,” said Tom Shaver, president and CEO of Opus Development Corporation. “Since joining the Opus team in 1999, Dave has developed a strong understanding of our business and built a strong record of achievement. Under his leadership we look forward to continued success and further expansion in the Chicago market.”

Throughout his 11-year tenure with Opus, Everson has managed or assisted in the financing or sale of more than $1 billion in commercial real estate. Prior to joining Opus, he worked on acquisitions of Midwest and West Coast properties for the Minneapolis office of First Industrial Realty Trust and in an appraisal and consulting position for the Chicago office of Marvin F. Poer & Company.

Shaver explained that the change in leadership in Chicago comes as The Opus Group repositions itself as a single, unified company operating nationally rather than a collection of independent companies operating semi autonomously.  “Our new approach is a better fit with current market conditions, provides seamless access to our seasoned and experienced design, build and development teams and improves our ability to deliver a consistently strong customer experience regardless of the office servicing the customer,” said Shaver.

“This new operating model has implications for the authority, accountability and responsibility of the general manager’s role,” said Everson. “It remains a critical, pivotal role that is very much about cross-company coordination and collaboration to bring our collective resources to bear on customers’ challenges. We’re well positioned in Chicago to grow our business in this new configuration.”

Everson holds a Bachelor of Business Arts from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is a member of the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association and University of Wisconsin Alumni Association.
