Flurry of Activity in Indiana and Ohio

It’s a busy season for our team with four projects currently under construction in Plainfield and Frankfort, Ind.  and Columbus, Ohio and more projects on the horizon.

Last summer, we broke ground on two speculative industrial warehouse buildings totaling 924,530 square feet at Plainfield Business Center, the region’s most desirable location for modern bulk warehouses. Known as Airwest Buildings 12 and 14, the buildings will offer tenants convenient access to I-70 & I-65 expressways and the Indianapolis International Airport. These side-by-side warehouse buildings will be completed this summer.

In the same business center, we’re wrapping up tenant improvements on a 280,000-square-foot space for Ford Motor Company’s automotive parts distribution center. To the north in Frankfort, construction is beginning on a 1.6-million-square-foot distribution center for long-time client partner ConAgra Foods.  The distribution center will help ConAgra consolidate their presence in the Midwest. It will be completed in summer 2015.

The Columbus marketplace is experiencing increased levels of activity in the industrial sector. Low vacancy rates and minimal development in the area have created a need for large, flexible industrial spaces. To help fill this void, we started construction on Opus Business Center at Rickenbacker 8, a new speculative warehouse located in a prime area for modern bulk distribution.

Other construction buzz at Opus Business Center at Rickenbacker is the recently completed tenant improvements for SK Food Group, a new addition that fills the remaining 180,000 square feet of space in Building 7. Improvements include customizing the warehouse into a high-tech space to meet the company’s growing needs, building 16,000 square feet of office space and modifications to accommodate 250 employees per shift in the facility.
