Introducing the Height of Downtown Living: The Nic on Fifth®

More about this project
2/25/2015

We finished The Nic on Fifth last fall, and I’m excited to introduce you to the height of downtown living in this video. Please feel free to watch it above or read the video transcript.

Dave Menke: The Nic on Fifth is the first luxury high rise residential tower in downtown Minneapolis in nearly 30 years. It’s urban…core location…light rail at its front door…amenities unsurpassed in the marketplace.

Steve Cramer: It’s a beautiful design, right on Nicollet Mall. The Nic on Fifth is a great example of what we want to see in downtown Minneapolis. It’s a project that will help us accomplish our goal of doubling the downtown residential population to a total of 70,000 residents by the year 2025.

Chris Douglas: My partner and I have lived in a number of other cities, including New York and Chicago, and we really liked the luxury apartment living there. Until The Nic on Fifth was finished, that kind of rental living didn't exist here in Minneapolis. It’s luxurious. It’s like living in a resort.

Dave Menke: A testament to this project’s success was the interest we received very early on. Before we opened our doors we had over 40% of our homes leased, sight unseen.

Chris Carlson: We love it because it’s dog friendly, and it’s just an easy lifestyle for us and for Lolly.

Lisa Ashley: I've traveled all over the world and experienced 5-star qualities. The minute you walk in here, it's the same thing. I say it's like living in a hotel without the whole living out of a suitcase thing.

Chris Carlson: I can’t wait for the first time it snows and look out the window and think “We don’t have to shovel.”

Lisa Ashley: With the floor-to-ceiling windows, you don't even need decorations because the view takes care of it for you.

Dave Menke: Well, The Nic is perfectly suited for our design-build delivery model. It’s a high rise. It’s urban. It’s complex. We are, as a design builder, well equipped with design, with development, with construction all under our roof. It really takes that team and that cohesive delivery model to be successful.

Steve Cramer: The Nic on Fifth is going to contribute greatly to our objective of revitalizing Nicollet Mall.

Dave Menke: What The Nic does additionally is really takes the north end of Nicollet Mall and continues its reclamation and continuation to the river.

Lisa Ashley: I’m really excited to be part of the new resurgence in downtown Minneapolis…the stores coming in, the restaurants and just all of the people moving downtown is really exciting.

Steve Cramer: Opus has been a part of the downtown scene in Minneapolis for decades. The Nic on Fifth is the latest in a long line of high-quality developments that have contributed greatly to the vitality and the success of downtown Minneapolis.

Dave Menke: We’ve really set a new standard.
