Opus AE Group, Inc. Names Two to Leadership Positions


​MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Opus AE Group, Inc. announced today the appointments of Dean Newins as vice president, architecture and Ernesto Ruiz-García as senior manager, architecture.

Ernesto’s extensive background designing varied and complex projects makes him the perfect addition to our design team. We are thrilled to have them both back working with us.”

Dean Newins
Newins brings more than 25 years of experience in the architecture and planning industry to Opus. In his new role, Newins will work closely with Opus Development Corporation and Opus Design-Build to develop design solutions for various projects. He will also coordinate teams to produce projects that support clients’ project goals.

Prior to joining Opus, Dean was a partner at OTJ Architects, a 70-person firm in Washington, D.C. During his three years with OTJ, Dean created and led the base building studio designing corporate, government and private sector projects. He also worked as a principal with Opus Architects & Engineers, where he was responsible for regional design-build services.

A LEED accredited professional, Newins earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the New York Institute of Technology.

Ernesto Ruiz-García
Ruiz brings more than 15 years of design experience to Opus. As senior manager, architecture, Ruiz will be responsible for leading multiple design projects and teams from initial phases through to construction documents. He will also support business development across all sectors.

Ruiz hails from HGA Architects and Engineers where he was a senior associate and managed the execution of various design projects in Minnesota and several other states. Ruiz’s range of experience also includes working with Opus Architects & Engineers, Julie Snow Architects and Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd. Ruiz also has taught architectural design at the University of Minnesota.

A LEED accredited professional, Ruiz earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental design from the University of Puerto Rico and continued his education, earning a master’s in architecture from the University of Minnesota.
