This year's holiday card honors the Des Moines, Iowa, nonprofit Creative Visions Human Development Institute, winner of the 2020 Gerry Rauenhorst Building Community Award. Creative Visions is dedicated to breaking the chain of poverty and hopelessness within vulnerable communities by empowering individuals to become prosperous and productive citizens who contribute to and shape strong communities.
The mural on the left in the image is painted on the side of Creative Visions' building and is entitled From Pain to Power. The mural recognizes lives lost to gun violence and depicts both the empowering effect of hope and the community's hope for a brighter future. The artwork on the front of our card was inspired by Creative Visions' message of hope.
