Giving: Celebrating Our Legacy of Stewardship

Each year, on April 22 we recognize Founder’s Day at Opus.
This date in 1953 marks when our founder, Gerry Rauenhorst, signed his first construction contract to build Zion Lutheran Church in Olivia, Minnesota. That moment set in motion what would become Opus.
Gerry viewed his work as more than a business. He saw it as a way to contribute—to his family, to the industry and to the communities we serve. That mindset shaped the values that continue to define us today: safety, integrity, respect, innovation, entrepreneurship and stewardship.
Founder’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on that legacy and to carry it forward in a tangible way.
We’re fortunate to be part of an organization with a long history of strong performance, meaningful relationships and lasting impact. All those trace back to the foundation Gerry established more than seven decades ago.
This year’s Founder’s Day t-shirt design reflects both the construction of our new headquarters and the momentum we are building as a team.
