WEN Power Tools HQ at Oakview Corporate Park

​After outgrowing their current facility, WEN Power Tools enlisted Opus to design and construct a new headquarters in the Oakview Corporate Park in West Dundee, Ill., near Chicago. At 180,623-square-feet, the new facility is more than three times the size of their current building.

Opus leveraged its broad industrial experience and one-team design-build method to compress schedules and provide a quick-turn timeline that meets WEN's deadline for moving into the new building. 

Located on a flat site with easy access to I-90, in addition to a large, efficiently-designed warehouse, the building features a 4,000-square-foot office space and a product showroom spanning 1,900 square feet. It includes:

• a recessed dock with two drive-in doors
• 21 truck dock positions
• 32-foot clear height

 
The exterior of the building consists of 9.5-inch thick insulated precast panels with reveals to add visual interest and elevated clerestory windows and punched windows for views of the outdoors and to bring in additional natural light. The design incorporates 2,000 square feet of future office space on the north side of the building with a separate entrance; WEN has plans to lease out this space. 

WEN's headquarters is Opus' eighth build-to-suit project in Oakview Corporate Park. On one of the last remaining parcels in the development, it is situated near three previous build-to-suit headquarters projects Opus has delivered in recent years – HELUKABEL USA, Inc., Renishaw Incorporated and oelheld U.S. 

The project was completed in March 2021.
