Experience
Dustin Slack returned to Team Opus in 2024 after working here from 2016 – 2022. He began his career as an architect in 1994 and as a developer in 2000. Since the late 1990s, he has developed over 11,000 multifamily units.
Previously, Dustin served as Vice President of Multifamily, for Milhaus, where he was responsible for project pursuit, acquisition and development. He worked in real estate development for JPI, Forestar Group, McShane Development Company and Trammell Crow Residential and as an architect for GFF Architects (formerly Good Fulton & Farrell Architects) and Womack + Hampton Multifamily Architects.
Dustin’s architecture and development experience provide unique capabilities. Combining the two, he is adept at creative problem-solving. For example, he employed a data-driven process to understand lease-up challenges on a multifamily project. He then worked with the property managers to improve marketing strategies and visitor’s first impressions of the new building. With these improvements, the building soon reached stabilization.
Dustin has developed best practices for keeping our team and our partners informed. For example, on Paradise at P83 (Peoria, AZ), Dustin realized that our financial partner was new to wood-framed construction, so he facilitated visits before critical components to ensure all stakeholders were informed and comfortable with the finished project. This project was impacted by COVID-19 shutdowns. By this time, Dustin and the team had developed a strong working relationship with the financial partner who described their confidence that the team’s expertise would yield a positive result.
For 25 years, Dustin’s weekends were consumed with youth sports – both coaching and observing. Living in Austin, fitness and enjoying nature are natural hobbies for Dustin.
