Experience
Matt began his career in 2005 and joined Team Opus in 2017. He brought diverse experience – underwriting, portfolio management and analysis – that provide him a unique perspective on the development process. Prior to joining our team, he was Vice President of Commercial Real Estate with Bank of Arizona and held positions at Wells Fargo and BBVA Compass Bank.
Throughout his career, Matt has developed many skills that lead to excellence in his current role, including collaboration, flexibility, critical thinking and problem solving. He’s adept at communication and connecting with all stakeholders. In fact, land sellers have said they had a positive experience working with Matt and his team, especially being well informed along the way.
Matt knows that every development project has challenges from utility infrastructure and entitlements, to working with adjacent landowners and dealing with easements. On Deer Valley 30 in North Phoenix, Matt and his team encountered those and more. The team ran into an issue while trying to construct a public road. When the adjacent landowner didn’t work with the team, they developed an alternative solution in collaboration with the civil engineer and our construction team and gained City Council approval, keeping the project on schedule.
On Fairway 10, the team worked with the City of Avondale to rezone a 50-acre parcel from office to allow for an industrial building. Matt connected with our in-house team, including the design architects who generated updated materials needed to present to the City and attend various meetings. With the designers generating documents, Matt was able to focus on developing relationships with local stakeholders.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys hiking with his family and three dogs and golfing when the weather in Phoenix is nice. When it’s not, he can be found trying new restaurants and staying in shape.
