Opus Brings First-Class TOD Student Living to Richmond, Virginia

To meet demand for student living and in alignment with the city’s density plans we developed Ascend Richmond near Virginia Commonwealth University. Ascend-Richmond Student Living, a 12-story, 241,000-square-foot mixed-use tower in Richmond, Va.

The transit-oriented, pedestrian-friendly building is 12 stories tall with 168 units and 428 beds. It is the first transit-oriented development (TOD) to serve this community and area within Richmond. It is conveniently situated on the Pulse bus rapid transit line on a major corridor in the northwest quadrant of Richmond.

Floor plans range from studio apartments to four-bedroom units. It provides residents and their guests several upscale amenities, including an outdoor terrace area and swimming pool, an indoor fitness room, lounge areas and a second-floor indoor-outdoor space.

The building features 3,500 square feet of retail space and parking for 82 vehicles in a one-level basement garage and at street-level. The building’s façade consists primarily of metal, aluminum and glass with concrete and brick along the street-level base.

Ascend Richmond Student Living was completed in August 2022.
