Opus Completes State-of-the-art Schneiderman’s Furniture Store in Minnesota

Employing Opus DB3, its unique design-build model, Opus recently completed Schneiderman’s Furniture’s newest store in Lakeville, Minn. This Client Direct Services project brought together all stakeholders—the client, architect and builder—for meaningful collaboration, resulting in delivery of a state-of-the-art retail experience on time and within budget.

The 110,000-square-foot, two-story building has prominent visibility from Interstate 35. A first for Schneiderman’s Furniture, it features a second-story outdoor patio overlooking the city that is a display area for showcasing outdoor furniture products in an open air environment.

The exterior of the building incorporates local Minnesota Kasota limestone with expansive glass to create a unique interior shopping experience with natural light filling the store. Specialty glass protects products from exposure to harmful UV rays and sunlight, maintaining product quality.

Schneiderman’s Furniture required an aggressive timeline for the new Lakeville store that included securing occupancy six weeks in advance of opening for furniture staging. Opus met stringent deadlines by prioritizing completion of certain areas of the building, and securing a temporary certificate of occupancy to allow for the staging. Schneiderman’s Furniture celebrated the grand opening of the new store in early May 2017.

Opus Design Build, L.L.C. was the design-builder, and Opus AE Group, L.L.C. was the architect and structural engineer of record.
