Opus Foundation® Supports Nonprofits in Iowa with 2021 Grants

The Opus Foundation, the charitable foundation for The Opus Group (Opus), today announced the award of grants totaling nearly $110,000 to nine Iowa nonprofits in 2021.

“As a long-time resident of Iowa, I am so pleased that the Opus Foundation prioritizes supporting local nonprofits in our Des Moines-area community," said Jeff Smith, vice president of construction. “Stewardship is a core value at Opus and has been a pillar of our history for more than 60 years. Needs in our community are now greater than ever, and it's a privilege to partner with these organizations to help advance their missions."

The grants support a number of critical missions and causes, including providing housing for at-risk residents and single mothers and their children, as well as programs that provide youth mentoring and empowerment, college and career readiness, hunger relief and workforce development.

Recipients of 2021 Opus Foundation grants include:

Hope Ministries (Des Moines) -- $75,000 for Capital Campaign for new women's and children's facility
Anawim Housing, Inc (Des Moines) -- $5,000 for “Full Circle" program                     
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa (Clive) -- $5,000 for “I am Enough" Mentoring Club         
By Degrees Foundation (Des Moines) -- $5,000 for college and career readiness              
Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity (Des Moines) -- $5,000 in recognition of Opus associate volunteer efforts                   
Meals from the Heartland (West Des Moines) --$5,000 for meal packing program            
Project IOWA (Des Moines) -- $5,000 for technology         
Starts Right Here (Des Moines) -- $1,500 grant as a 2021 Building Community Award Finalist
United Way of Central Iowa (Des Moines) -- $2,191 in support of 2021 Opus workplace giving campaign
