Phoenix Team & Projects Receive Awards

More about this project

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of honors in our office. We’re the newest Opus office, but we’ve really established ourselves in the market.

Winning Big at RED Awards

We were surprised at the RED (Real Estate Development) Awards in early March. Our team was honored to not only win the Mixed-Use Project of the Year for Union Tempe but also Developer of the Year. AZ Big Media, who puts on the event, doesn’t accept nominations for the Developer of the Year Award, which we feel makes this a special honor.

Union Tempe is a mixed-use, multifamily development perched on the edge of the Arizona State University campus in downtown Tempe on a full city block. With 407 units and over 30k SF of retail and restaurant space on the ground level, the building is a dynamic and vibrant addition to the community. The project opened on August 1, 2018, and the residential units are now 60% leased, and the retail space is 67% leased.

Goodyear Crossing Cleans Up at Best of NAIOP

We closed out the month with a successful showing at the Best of NAIOP awards, winning Spec Industrial Project of the Year and Industrial Tenant Improvement of the Year for Goodyear Crossing One.

We completed the first building at Goodyear Crossing Industrial Park last year, and a full-building user leased the 540k SF space, the largest industrial lease in greater Phoenix that year. The cross-docked facility includes 36’ clear height, 289 automobile stalls, 115 excess trailer-parking stalls and LEED level certification design.

2018 represented the fourth full year since Opus’ return to the Phoenix market. We take tremendous pride in this recognition, and we have worked our tails off these past four+ years! I couldn’t be more proud of our team. Most importantly, we are well-positioned to build on this success in coming years.  Phoenix continues to be a strong growth market with net population gains exceeding 100,000 in 2017 and 2018, and similar projections for the coming years. In addition, and most importantly, Phoenix has developed a well-diversified economy with substantial growth in technology, healthcare, aerospace and financial services.
