Continental Compound Mixing Facility

Continental’s ContiTech sector partnered with us to deliver a highly specialized compounding center at their Mount Pleasant, IA, campus to support growth within their hose and belt businesses and strengthen their North American mixing operations. The new facility brings production, warehouse and office functions together within a single, integrated environment, requiring careful coordination between building systems and process flow.

Central to the project is a three-story mixing facility designed to support a vertical manufacturing process in which raw materials are introduced at the upper level and move through equipment to lower floors. To address the building’s significant load demands and specialized equipment requirements, we introduced a precast concrete system early in design. From there, we designed the structural system around the material flow, load demands and equipment needs of the process.

This project reflects how our design-build approach enables us to solve for complex manufacturing challenges early – coordinating building systems, structural design and equipment integration to deliver a facility that performs from day one. Through this approach, we will deliver a portion of Continental’s mixing facility in November 2026 to enable critical equipment installation. Expected completion for the remainder of the facility is June 2027.
