Opus Fulfilling Demand for Luxury Living at the Edge of the University of Alabama at Birmingham

To meet evolving demand for student housing in a growing community, Opus partnered with The McKinney Fund & Company to bring luxury student living to the University of Alabama at Birmingham

Adjacent to the university in the heart of Birmingham, the 17-story, mixed-use community resides in the Five Points South area, the city's premier entertainment and culinary district. A National Register of Historic Places neighborhood, Five Points South is rich with landmark homes and churches that are among the city's finest and most distinguished architectural and historical resources.

With a prime location on the corner of 20th Street South and 10th Avenue, the building is walkable to campus, as well as a wide variety of retail, dining and entertainment options. The tower has 198 residential units accommodating up to 520 residents and includes prime retail space on the ground level.

The units range from junior studios to four-bedrooms and feature full-size stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops in the kitchens, simulated wood flooring in the common spaces and in-unit washers and dryers. High-end finishes also include tile shower surrounds, contemporary bathroom fixtures and custom furniture throughout.

The building's shared amenities include luxurious public spaces, secure parking, a fitness center, spa, individual and group study rooms, lounges and an outdoor amenity deck with fitness areas, fire pits and group seating. On the 17th floor, residents and their guests can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area. This amenity space features a coffee bar and club room with pool tables, ping pong tables and large screen televisions, as well as an outdoor amenity space with a rooftop pool, grilling stations and seating.

The building was completed prior to the fall 2020 semester.
