New BAE Systems Build-to-Suit Facility is Suited for Sustainability & Growth
After more than 84 years leasing space in the Twin Cities, BAE Systems, a multinational aerospace, defense and information security company, has moved its Combat Missions Systems operations into a new, state-of-the-art, 247,765-square-foot build-to-suit facility that we developed, designed and built in Maple Grove, MN.
The new facility was designed with efficiency, collaboration, future growth and sustainability in mind. This state-of-the-art facility enables BAE Systems to innovate new solutions using the latest Digital Engineering tools and processes. It strengthens BAE Systems’ efforts to attract and retain employees and meet the future needs of the U.S. military and its allies. And it supports BAE Systems’ sustainability goal to be carbon neutral across all operations by 2030.
BAE Systems new facility includes dedicated engineering lab spaces, a collaborative product design center and a full-service prototyping product development lab. It operates exclusively on electricity, incorporates photosensors that harvest daylight to automatically adjust artificial lights based on natural light and it provides electric vehicle charging stations.
Additional facility features include:
an 8,800-square-foot bay with a 65-foot clear height and thickened concrete slabs to accommodate three 30-ton overhead cranes, each with a 60-foot hook height
a 2,100-square-foot 3D Extended Reality (XRL) simulation room
153,000 square feet of office space with seating for more than 500 employees and four unique collaboration spaces, including a 1,900-square-foot Town Hall that overlooks the lobby
a water runoff treatment system to protect the wetlands that surround the facility, which feed area lakes and streams and are a critical habitat for biodiversity
a walking trail that encompasses the entire site and provides employees with an opportunity to engage with nature
This new facility continues the company’s legacy of service and commitment to the nation, as well as the state’s talented and dedicated workforce.
