To encourage wellness and maximize convenience for its employees, Kohl's purchased a 28,000-square-foot building near its Menomonee Falls, Wis., corporate office for a wellness center. The building had been used for a similar purpose but needed significant updating to reflect the standards of Kohl's and its service providers for the building—Wisconsin Athletic Club, CVS and Columbia St. Mary's.
Kohl's originally hired another contractor and became concerned that the required completion date and budget were in serious jeopardy, so they turned to us. We quickly brought all parties together to discuss the project scope and budget and to identify critical tasks required to achieve the desired occupancy date. With that information, we committed to a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) early and established a very tight schedule that involved designing and releasing the work in stages. Working closely with the Kohl's team and partners, we delivered their newly renovated building on time and on budget.
