CHICAGO, Ill. - The Opus Group announced today that construction has started on a new 31,175-square-foot retail center in Glen Ellyn, Ill. with The Fresh Market as the main tenant, occupying 20,300 square feet of space.
“The Fresh Market is one of the most active grocers in the Chicago market, and we’re thrilled to be working with them and the village of Glen Ellyn to bring their store to the area and we hope to continue this relationship in the future,” said Sean Spellman, vice president and general manager of Opus Development Company, L.L.C.
The project will transform a vacated car dealership into a new grocery-anchored center serving the Glen Ellyn and North Wheaton communities. The center will include patio seating and 186 customer parking spaces.
The center is 75 percent leased with other committed tenants including Great Clips and Tide Dry Cleaners, occupying 1,075 and 2,800 square feet, respectively. This is the first store for Tide Dry Cleaners in the Chicago area and represents a new store concept for the company.

Opus Development Company, L.L.C. is the developer, Opus Design Build, L.L.C. will serve as the general contractor for the project and OKW Architects provided architecture services.
The project is slated for completion in late 2013, with The Fresh Market expected to open in late 2013 or early 2014.
