The Opus Group (Opus) announced today the completion of a new 175,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for MC Machinery Systems, Inc. in Elk Grove Village. The two-story building accommodates the company’s growing workforce and changing business needs featuring 50,000 square feet of office space, 75,000 square feet of warehouse and storage space and a 50,000-square-foot industrial machinery showroom to showcase the company’s equipment and host customer walkthroughs.

“We are thrilled with the final result of this project and extremely happy to see MC Machinery moved in and fully operational in the new space,” said Craig Kenmotsu, senior project manager, Opus Design Build, L.L.C. “We were honored to have the opportunity to work with MC Machinery and collaborate with Heitman Architects from the early stages of this project to ensure they achieved the vision they had been building upon for years.”

MC Machinery Systems develops, sells and supports seven different types of high-tech manufacturing equipment used primarily for metalworking and metal fabrication as a subsidiary of the global Mitsubishi Corporation. The new facility offers a variety of spaces tailored to accommodate research and development, machine refurbishment and a space to showcase industrial offerings for the company’s multinational customer base.

“Our main motivator to build a new headquarters was our employees and customers,” says Patrick Simon, senior marketing and corporate planning manager, MC Machinery. “We wanted to provide them a new state-of-the-art place to come to work to everyday with updated technological resources that enable us to better serve our customers. We are beyond pleased with how Opus made this vision a reality.”

The location of the new facility off Interstate 90 and near Chicago O’Hare International Airport provides convenient access for customers, an easy transition for current employees coming from the company’s previous facility in nearby Wood Dale and increased brand exposure for the company with a towering canopy entrance and company logo visible from the freeway.

Construction on this project began in April 2016 and MC Machinery was fully operational in the space by April 2017. Opus Design Build, L.L.C. was the design-builder, Opus AE Group, L.L.C. was the structural engineer of record and Heitman Architects was the architect of record and the design architect. Using its unique design-build approach known as Opus DB3, Opus has worked on 61 Client Direct Services construction projects for clients throughout the country in the past 24 months including remodels, tenant improvements and new construction projects across sectors.
