The Opus Group® Announces Completion of Second Industrial Building at 56 Commerce Center

The Opus Group (Opus) announced today Gateway Classic Cars and Lanter Delivery Systems, Inc. (Lanter) as the first tenants in the recently completed speculative warehouse and distribution building at 56 Commerce Center. Located in Olathe, Kan., Gateway Classic Cars and Lanter moved into 56 Commerce Center earlier this year and now occupy more than 85,000 square feet in the 230,000-square-foot industrial building.

“We are excited to welcome both Gateway Classic Cars and Lanter as our first tenants at 56 Commerce Center as they expand in the Kansas City market," said Joe Downs, vice president, general manager at Opus. “Coming off the heels of a successful first phase at 56 Commerce Center, this momentum demonstrates the strong demand for industrial space in the area, and we're thrilled to be able to provide solutions for companies growing their presence in Kansas City."

Gateway Classic Cars, the largest seller of collectible and exotic automobiles in the world, occupies 38,500 square feet within the second building of 56 Commerce Center. The company has 3,000 classics and exotic cars for sale daily and occupies 900,000 square feet of showroom space in 18 markets in the country. This is the company's first location in the Kansas City-area and the newest addition to its 17 existing locations throughout the United States. Opus collaborated with Gateway Classic Cars to tailor the space for their specific needs, including a showroom for vehicles and automobile storage.

56 Commerce Center serves as a regional shipping hub for Lanter's local automotive, agricultural and industrial clients. The company provides specialized overnight unattended delivery logistic services, ensuring deliveries reach their intended destination by the following morning. Lanter occupies 48,500 square feet. Opus worked closely with Lanter to optimize the space for increased logistics provisions, including an additional 30 truck stalls and expanded dock door count.

“Our new regional hub and operations center at 56 Commerce Center has raised the bar for future facilities in the rest of our network," said Steve Lodewyck, vice president of real estate and general counsel, Lanter Delivery Systems, Inc. “We really value the collaboration and communication of the Opus team throughout the leasing, design and buildout phases of this project. We're already seeing the operational efficiencies of our space and the overall development."

Completed in May 2018, the second building at 56 Commerce Center is designed to meet the growing need for industrial space in the market. The second building includes a 32-foot clear height, front parking lot and a rear truck court with a potential for up to 35 stalls. Additionally, the location offers access to major interstates, including Interstate-35, I-435 and I-49.

Opus was the developer, design-builder, architect and structural engineer of record on the project. The buildouts for both tenant spaces was performed by Opus. Joe Orscheln and Mike Mitchelson at CBRE marketed the property for lease, Mark Long at Newmark Grubb Zimmer, on behalf of Jackson Cooksey, represented Gateway Classic Cars and John Stafford at Colliers International represented Lanter.
