Revitalizing a Prominent Corner in Downtown La Grange

For nearly 60 years, a YMCA occupied the corner of La Grange Road and Ogden Avenue in downtown La Grange, Ill. After closing its doors in 2007, the vacant building was demolished, leaving a large empty lot on a prominent corner. Opus redeveloped the site, offering a much-needed addition to the community: a luxury apartment complex.

Addressing Limited Options with Luxury Living

With limited new residential developments in the surrounding communities, this building provides a refreshing new upscale living option for renters. The five-story multifamily complex includes 254 units and 23 different floor plans, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. The units feature quartz countertops, washers and dryers and walk-in closets in all master bedrooms. The complex also features:

  • a clubroom and lounge,
  • a state-of-the-art fitness center,
  • a multimedia community room,
  • an outdoor swimming pool and
  • a terrace lounge with grilling area and outdoor fireplace.

Retail space is available adjacent to the apartment’s entry on an outlot. Additionally, a linear park along Ogden, the main corridor through town, creates a buffer, offering a transition between the street and the building and a place for residents to be outside.

Transit-Oriented Development in a Prime Suburb

In addition to the incredible amenities the apartment offers tenants, the location is second to none. Located just 17 miles west of downtown Chicago, the Village of La Grange was named the top transit-oriented suburb in Metro Chicago by Chaddick Institute in 2012. The multifamily development is within walking distance to many restaurants and retail amenities in La Grange and – with a Metra Station two blocks away – offers an easy commute to downtown Chicago or nearby suburbs.
