John is a critical team member in the generation of ideas during the concept design phase. During the early stages of a project, John’s primary responsibilities include site and context analysis, zoning review, density calculations, building layout, material selection and façade design. John is responsible for creating designs that meet client goals, are cost effective and gain city entitlement approval. Once a project is committed, John works with the project team to ensure design intent is carried through construction documents and construction administration.
John has over 10 years of experience, including over 3 years with Opus. He has led the design of multiple industrial projects, both speculative and build-to-suit, in the Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa and Arizona markets. Additional Opus project experience includes multifamily mixed-use in urban settings and transit-oriented developments. Before joining Opus, John was the project lead throughout all phases of design and construction for an international nonprofit architecture firm focused on healthcare, spiritual and educational buildings in emerging economies.
He holds a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Design in architecture from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
